Esthetician Technology Continuing Education

Esthetics is the beautification of the skin. Students receive intensive training in the areas of facials, hair removal, and make-up application to become a licensed skin care specialist. Students have the opportunity to receive a Microdermabrasion certificate and a Chemical Peel certificate as part of the training. The tuition is paid in two parts: $1,090 due at the beginning, $947 is due by the midpoint of the course. 660 hours. $2,037.

Upon successful completion of the course, Durham Tech students are eligible to register to take the state board exam with the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts Examiners.


Textbooks are covered in the cost of the registration fee. A student kit containing required materials is provided. Students are required to purchase a dark hunter green uniform and white, comfortable shoes.

This course qualifies for financial assistance.

Students must be able to speak, read, and write English because the class and the state exams are in English. Students who have not graduated from a US high school or if US English is not their first language must take the Accuplacer ESL Listening test instead of NCDAP. Prerequisites:

  • COMPASS Reading placement score of 70 or better, NCDAP Reading/English score of 136, OR
  • Proof of successful completion of Reading 80 or 90, EFL 073 or DRE 097 at Durham Tech, OR
  • A transcript documenting successful completion of a college-level English (ENG 111 or higher) course
     

Visit the Esthetician Spa!  Durham Tech employees and current students 18 and older can receive free facials, waxing, and speciality services through the Durham Tech Esthetician Spa. The Esthetician Spa is staffed by Durham Tech Esthetician Technology students, and students complete 100 percent of the work.
