Participants involved in this course will complete the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum and the 10-hour OSHA course in Construction Safety. This course also covers Construction Math, Introduction to power tools and hand tools, Intro to Construction drawings, Basic Rigging, Materials Handling, Communication and Employability Skills. Students who attend this class will gain the skills and certifications necessary to obtain entry-level work with contracting companies in a variety of trade areas. There is opportunity to meet employers throughout the course, to learn about career opportunities and wages. Job shadowing, learning about curriculum programs in the trades at the college, as well as information in regards to apprenticeship will be discussed throughout the course.
