Durham Tech Promise

Our Commitment to College Access

smiling student in her graduation regaliaDurham Tech Promise is our commitment to your high school graduate.

College is expensive. We get it. With the Durham Tech Promise, recent high school graduates in Durham and Orange counties can receive up to $1,000 each year for two years. That means less focus on cost – and more on success.

Credit Programs: To be eligible, in-state students must enroll in at least six credit hours within a year after completing a high school diploma or high school equivalency. Due to the higher cost of out-of-state tuition, out-of-state students do not have a credit hour requirement. Disbursements are made in $500 payments per semester. Students do not need to apply. The Durham Tech Financial Aid office will review student records and contact those who qualify.

Noncredit (Continuing Education) Programs: To be eligible, students must enroll in one of the programs listed below within a year after completing a high school diploma or high school equivalency. Disbursement will cover tuition and fees up to $1,000 per year. Students must apply at the time of registration.

The Durham Tech Promise gave me the resources to find my career path to Early Childhood Education. The Promise was especially helpful because I come from a low-income family. Being able to receive money for tuition and books through my work-study position really helped me afford my dream."
