SAF-3023A AHA CPR Instructor Prerequisites: A BLS provider card and complete AHA Instructor Essentials online course is required. Email grahamj@durhamtech.edu with documentation and assistance with registering for the course.
HEA-3122A Care Manager Training
This course is designed to provide individuals with the foundational knowledge, tools, and skills to work in care manager roles at various levels. The course focuses on care management and care coordination concepts, principles of care management practice, explores how care management fits within the broader healthcare system, and supports individuals in understanding value-based care. Individuals will be introduced to developing and implementing person-centered care plans to ensure that patients can implement effective self-management strategies to enable their recovery or management of complex, acute, or chronic health conditions. Participants will also learn how to identify and address social drivers of health and other barriers that impact health. Individuals who complete this course may be eligible to work at a variety of healthcare and community settings such as health departments, health systems, federally qualified health centers, clinics, and/or community-based organizations.

HEA-3101A TEAS Test Prep
This course prepares students to take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Materials provided include a generous packet with strategies and practice problems for each section of the TEAS (Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage). Test-taking and anxiety-reduction skills are covered. No prerequisites or placement testing is required. Email nurseaide@durhamtech.edu for more information.

PHM-4100C Medication Aide for Skilled Nursing
This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified as a Medication Aide in a Skilled Nursing facility. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the state competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. Prerequisites for this course include ALL of the following: High School Diploma/Equivalency, and current Nurse Aide I Registry Listing. SEF-3001XP AHA BLS for HealthCare Provid
The AHA's BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Upon completion of all course requirements, participants receive a BLS Provider Course Completion Card which is valid for two years.

This in-person class is one of the final steps to becoming an AHA BLS Instructor. Upon completion, the candidate must be monitored within the following 6 months. When all steps are complete, candidates will receive a BLS Instructor Card which is valid for two years.
