Emergency Financial Assistance Program
We understand our students may struggle from time to time to pay their expenses. Unexpected situations may make it difficult for a student to progress satisfactorily toward completion of his or her academic and career goals.
For such occasions, the Durham Tech Emergency Financial Assistance Program is here to help. Review the eligibility criteria below, and feel free to follow up with a representative.
Students who qualify are limited to one grant while enrolled at Durham Tech.
To be eligible to apply for assistance, a student must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled in classes in an eligible curriculum program or approved Continuing Education certificate course at the time of funding request;
Meet satisfactory academic record, including a Student Progress Report completed by an instructor;
If applicable, have a verifiable address. The address in the student’s information record must be the address where student is requesting assistance;
Have a copy of current rent/mortgage, bills, etc. Rent or mortgage requests must include any late notices from the landlord/management company or mortgage company;
Be currently experiencing an unforeseen financial emergency;
Be at risk of being unable to continue in school due to an emergency; and
Be willing to speak with a counselor about a plan for future financial success.
Note: Checks are not made out to students - no exceptions. Allow two to three days for processing of requests.
Assistance is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.
Anyone who believes he or she may be a candidate for emergency assistance is invited to either complete an online application or speak with the program administrator, Karen Mosley-Lyon, in the Counseling Office, Wynn 10-209. Students should use their ConnectMail usernames and passwords as their login information for the online application. Students should also note that if they complete the application first, they will be contacted to schedule a meeting.
